Disney’s THE LION KING has released brand new photography of the award-winning production. Shot on stage at the Lyceum Theatre in London, the collection of photographs mirror the beauty, enormity and vibrancy of the internationally-celebrated stage adaptation of Disney’s beloved animated film
Unlike traditional production photography which directly represents the action on stage, the new images have been designed to immerse viewers into the world of the show, capturing both the dynamism of the storytelling and the emotional journey experienced by the audience.
In order to capture the desired effect, photographer Matt Crockett studied the show extensively, carefully selecting pivotal scenes that represent key moments of the production. After creating initial sketches, Crockett carefully collaborated with the creative team at THE LION KING to remain faithful to director Julie Taymor’s vision for the production, which is showcased and celebrated throughout the collection. The final group of images was achieved by shooting various elements individually and combining them in post-production, to create six captivating pictures.
As Dewynters’ in house photographer, Matt Crocket is well known for his portraits, theatre and live entertainment campaigns. He has created images for national magazines and comedy commissions as well as having published a personal work ’50 comics’.
Disney’s award-winning musical THE LION KING is now in its 17th year at London’s Lyceum Theatre.
